About us
We are a long-established pre-school set within the rural grounds of Ospringe school in the market town of Faversham, Kent. We have been providing good quality care and education since 1996. Our setting provides a safe, secure, caring and welcoming environment for children from the age of 2 to school age.
Statement from the last Ofsted inspection: Staff develop a strong bond with children as they know their children well. They can talk confidently about their children's interests and how to identify and plan for their next steps. Staff identify the children's needs and work well with agencies and support children in order to keep them safe.
We have a dedicated, highly qualified team of 7 staff who have a key person role, all working towards providing interesting activities and a purposeful curriculum for your children following the EYFS curriculum guidelines.
A typical day at Teddies
Welcome Time
The children are welcomed and settled into the pre-school by the Teddies team. The children are encouraged to hang up their coats, place their bags/ rucksacks on their pegs, fill their water bottles and wash their hands. Next, they do self-registration and go off and play whilst we welcome the rest of the children in.
Wake up and Shake up
Once in the setting, the children all come together for wake up and shake up time. This gives the children a chance to wake up and shake their sillies out to be ready for the day ahead. The children dance, stretch, jump and sing around five songs. It's important to us that the children stay active at Teddies!!
Child initiated play
Now it's time for the children to go off and choose what they want to do, or whom they want to play with, with the Teddies team always at hand to help and support them when needed.
Snack time
Once the children are settled, we offer an open snack bar where the children independently choose a drink of milk/ water. They are supported in cutting up any fruit and will help themselves to a snack of their choice. The children sit together with friends, supported by a member of the team. This encourages communication , language and literacy skills. Once the children have finished their snack, they are encouraged to wash up and tidy away their own utensils. This encourages independence skills.
Planning time
Children are encouraged to do activities that have been planned around a child's needs. This helps children to play and learn happily in ways which we help them develop skills and knowledge across the prime specific areas of learning.
Free time
The session continues with a range of activities such as construction toys, small world play, play-dough, musical instruments, sensory toys, puzzles, cooking, creative and drawing and much, much more.
Outside play
The children have lots of opportunities to play outside and experience our lovely garden, which is split into two areas and consists of climbing frames, a digging pit, a water area, a sandpit and riding on toys. There is lots of exciting fun to have in our Teddies garden!!
Group time
Each session we encourage the children to participate in group time which consists of a story, singing, dancing or musical instruments.
Home time
At home time we discuss our day and what exciting things we have done. We sing our home time song and prepare our children to meet their parents.
Our staff are always at hand to show and guide the children with their activities, helping them to explore further and enhance their understanding and learning.
Activities are planned around what the children are interested in and what has sparked their interest. Key persons link the learning to the areas included in the E.Y.F.S document so that you can be sure that your child will be covering all 7 areas of learning right from the start.
